A schoolyard and community plaza open to the public for skateboarding, bmx, art, music, basketball, events, gardens, free play. Open Road began this place in 1990 so each generation of kids can build their own place. Billy Rohan has created a skate program supported by Element, Acapulco Gold, Zoo York, Woodward, Vans, Red Bull, and many local sponsors. Come play.

Directions: Take the L to First Avenue or the 6 to Astor. Or you can walk over from Union Square. The park spans 11th and 12th streets, between 1st Avenue and Avenue A, in Manhattan.

The entire park is a little more than 33,000 square feet, with about 15,000 square feet of that skateable. The surface is smooth color seal coat (Deco Color made by While this is very much a local skate spot, skaters regularly come from all over the city to skate here. It's also well known as a spot internationally and has an interesting mix of pros and locals.
