The Carmel Valley Skate Park opened on November 22, 2008. The park is a 13,500 square foot facility with a challenge course and cast in place concrete bowl. It also includes urban elements such as railings, stairs, banks and ledges. The park is equipped with night lighting allowing for it to stay open after the sun goes down. There are restrooms, a shade structure and sitting/observation areas as well. History of the Skate Park The project design started in January 2007 with input from the Carmel Valley community members, including several skate board professionals. Construction started in March of 2008 with the grand opening in November 2008 and was funded via the Carmel Valley Facilities Benefit Assessment (FBA). This is a fun cement park but some things a bit funky. There are really fun obstacles on the street course but they don't link together very well. The bowl was intended to be a combi replica but the plans got screwed up because they wanted that stupid little ditch for little kids. So the bowl is skated a lot and can be very fun it's not like combi. The round and shallow are fine but the square is kinked.
